PDF Pattern Sale...

Even though I have a huge collection of PDF patterns, I'm always on the lookout for new patterns and designers. I've recently heard good things about Blaverry, based in the U.S. and run by Christie Archer.

Blog Hop...

A couple of weeks ago, I was asked if I would like to join in a writing process blog hop. I received an email from Christine, of ChrisW Designs and later the same day, another from Jill, of Creating my Way to Success. Both of these Aussie women, are bloggers I respect and admire. They are each experts in their field.

Christine designs and sells beautiful bag patterns. A girl can never have too many bags!!! Jill refashions, re-purposes and upcycles. She has written over 100 sewing tutorials. If you haven't come across their blogs, go and have a look, then come back and read my answers to the four questions posed to all blog hop participants.

What am I working on?
I chop and change all the time, but at the moment I'm sewing with fabrics my daughter has designed - Little Ladybird on Spoonflower.

Hemming Very Stretchy Fabric...

Hemming VERY stretchy fabrics - testing various techniques to see which worked best ~ Threading My Way

A couple of weeks ago, I showed you my tunic top. It's not often I sew for myself and I was particularly pleased, as I had sewn this top without a commercial pattern, tracing around an existing garment instead.

How to make a Rainbow Dress...

Learn how to make a tiered rainbow maxi dress, with shirring on the bodice. Tutorial at Threading My Way.

Last week I told you about the rainbow dress I would be making and also talked about the process of making what ended up being a wearable (muslin) sundress. Here is the end result - a maxi length rainbow dress. Today I'll show you how I made the rainbow dress and how you can make one, too.

Designing a Sundress...

Designing a Sundress - from initial thoughts to the finished dress. Learn how to make your own dress ~ Threading My Way

I was recently asked if I could make a Rainbow Dress, similar to this one on Etsy. It looked easy enough - a simple shirred bodice, with several gathered layers for the skirt. As Little Miss doesn't live with me, I thought it best to make a muslin first. I NEVER make muslins, but, as I wasn't using a pattern and the fabric was not mine, I thought it best.

Sewing for Me ~ A Knock Off...

Ha, ha... I didn't make this top! It's one I bought last Winter, or maybe the year before, and I've worn it SO much. I like the style and colour, it fits well and it's oh, so comfortable. And, to top it off, it's made in Australia. Most of our garment industry has gone off shore, so it's really pleasing to see a brand which has some of their items made here.

Offcuts and Selvedges for Ribbons...

What do you do with selvedges and long, thin offcuts of fabric? Use them instead of ribbons for gift wrapping ~ Threading My Way

What do you do with selvedges and long, thin offcuts of fabric? I used to throw them away, until I realised they're a great way to jazz up gift wrapping and much cheaper than ribbon.

Charlie Tee ~ a Refashion...

Charlie Tee... pattern review. T-shirts refashioned from pre-loved garments, using pattern by Fishsticks Designs ~ Threading My Way

It's been many years since I've sewn a t-shirt and I'd forgotten just how quick and easy they are to sew. Little Mister agree to a photo shoot wearing the first of two t-shirts I've made him, but with a limit of six photos. You can see him counting with his fingers in some of the photos... LOL!!!

Shorts on the Line...

Even though it's still Winter here in Australia, some days have been unseasonably warm. Spring is fast approaching, so time to make some new shorts.
