Earlier this month I had time to sew, but was in the mood for a quick and easy project that required next to no thinking, and so I whipped up a few reusable fabric gift bags.

Out of the Ordinary Sewing

When Mr TMW asks me to sew for him, it's usually something out of the ordinary - nothing fancy or grand, but a practical item which he will use a lot. The two most recent are his hat sweatband and reducer, and arm protectors, both for the garden. I asked readers to tell me the strangest project that they had ever sewn and today I'm going to show them to you.

Resources for Refashioning Denim Jeans

These are just a few of the pre-loved jeans in my refashioning stash. They range in size from tiny kids' jeans to very large men's jeans. I have grand plans for repurposing them. Maybe a quilt will even eventuate one day. I'm always on the lookout for new ideas, so today I'm sharing resources to help you upcycle, repurpose and refashion denim jeans.

How to make a Liberty Hexagon Flower Zippered Pouch

I'm loving my latest zippered pouch - Liberty, hexies, flowers, echo quilting - all wrapped up into one little bag. It's always good when the end result is just as you pictured it in your head. Sometimes the designs I imagine, don't translate into reality, but with this one, everything fell into place. I took a few pics along the way, so I'll show how you can make one, too.

Cushions ~ Painted & Sewn by Kids

I love crafting and painting with the kids, but let's face it, there's only so much room to hang and display their creations. Our last creative activities involved making something more permanent.
  • Session one - creating a design on fabric with fabric paint.
  • Session two - sewing the painted fabric into cushions.

Retro Reticule ~ New Bag Pattern

There's a new zippered bag pattern on the market - the Retro Reticule. Designed by Rochelle, from eSheep Designs, the Retro Reticule is a zippered pouch with a difference, and in her own words is a salute to a simple vintage purse design from yesteryear, with a couple of updates.
