How to Repair a Large Rip with a Sewing Machine
What do you do when your son presents you with a pair of shorts that have a huge rip? Said son felt the tear was too large to mend. Even if I could fix it, he thought the repair would cause the shorts to be tighter than they already were.
Leave it with me, I said. I couldn't make the rip any worse, and the shorts weren't wearable as they were - so, nothing to lose.

Spring - the Best Time of the Year in the Garden
I'm continuing to spend a lot of time out in the garden. Spring really is the best time of the year to enjoy the outdoors. New leaves are emerging, buds are turning into flowers and the weather is simply glorious. I know it's only a couple of weeks since I showed you photos of our garden, but today I'd thought I'd share some more.

Spring Has Sprung in My Garden
Spring has arrived in Australia, and I'm spending more time than usual out in the garden. It's the perfect time of year weather wise, so I'm making the most of the warm temperatures after the cold of Winter, and before the oppressive heat of Summer arrives.

Women Wearing Pants & Jeans in the 50s, 60s and 70s
I was born in an era when ladies wore hats and gloves. Not gloves for warmth, or hats for protection from the sun. These were accessories worn for appearance, because that was how ladies dressed when they were going out.
