More Sites to Get YOUR Blog Seen...

Last year I wrote a post which drew a lot of attention - Sites to Get Your Blog Seen. I've come across some more sites where you can submit your sewing and crafting projects to be featured, so today I'm reposting, with additions to the original. It's a LONG list!!!

Sites to get YOUR Blog seen... submit your sewing and crafting projects to these sites to drive more traffic to your blog ~ Threading My Way

You've written a great post, so how do you go about getting it seen? Whenever I write a sewing tutorial, or post about a handy sewing tip, I submit it to various sites, in the hopes that they will feature it. Today I thought I'd show you some sites that have featured my work, as well as others that I plan on submitting my projects to in the future.

Even if you're not interested in having your projects featured, you may find some new to you sites that are full of ideas and inspiration.

80's Fashion Making a Comeback...

This little pair of shorts could have come straight from the 80s - the bright print, the geometric shapes and the neon pink.

Plaid or Check ~ What's the Difference?

As a child growing up, I used two terms for fabric with a pattern of squares - checks or checkered, and tartan. No one ever explained the difference, and I never thought to ask. Basically, if it was a simple pattern with no overlapping squares, I called them checks, and if the pattern was more complex, with overlapping squares and lines, to me the fabric was tartan.

In recent years, I'vs seen another term added to the mix - plaid. I've seen fabrics labelled as plaid, when I thought they were checkered. And I've also seen fabrics labelled as plaid, when I would have called them tartan. My childhood perceptions needed questioning and research, to find the correct terms.

A Couple of Sources of Free Ribbon...

I'm always on the look out for ways I can save money when sewing, even if it's just a few cents. Until recently however, I was unwittingly throwing out ribbon that could have proven to be useful. I'm sure I'm the only one who was not being resourceful, but just in case I'm not alone, I thought I'd share how I accumulated this little pile of ribbons.

Quilt As You Go Zippered Pouch...

I'm on a roll making zippered pouches. It's very satisfying and becoming quite addictive. I don't think a girl can have too many.

Machine Appliquéd, Quilted Cushion...

When I attended the recent quilting retreat, I knew I'd need to take along a cushion, both for comfort and to give me a little extra height. I'd deliberated for some time over what to make with one of the projects from the previous year and decided a cushion would be the perfect way to show off the appliquéd leaves.

Perhaps those of you in the Northern Hemisphere are starting to experience warmer weather and maybe thinking of clothes for Spring. Here in Australia, we're well into Autumn and the weather is cooling down. Cooler weather doesn't stop the kids from wearing shorts, though.

Is it Worth Attending a Quilting Retreat?

It's not cheap to attend a quilting retreat. There's the overall cost of the retreat, plus an additional cost for each kit used in the workshops. Add to that accommodation, travel expenses and incidental, must have fabric purchases and you will have racked up a reasonable sum of money. Having recently attended a three day quilting retreat, I thought I'd share my experiences.
