It's always a good thing when you can combine a little fabric shopping with a day out. Well, good for me, anyway. Mr TMW wasn't quite so enthusiastic when we called in to the Blackheath Habberdashery & Fabric Store. Actually, he didn't complain at all and even went so far as to encourage me to have a look inside.

Jeans Pocket Cushion Tutorial...
Take a pair of old denim jeans, add some co-ordinating fabric and you have a cushion that costs next to nothing. Here in Australia, we call them cushions. Depending where you live, perhaps you use the term pillow. Today's tutorial will show you how to feature a jean's pocket on the front of a cushion and how to finish the back with a simple envelope enclosure.

Flannelette Pillowcases...
What do you need to go with mismatched pyjamas? Mismatched pillowcases, of course!!! I'd love to show you pictures of a beautifully co-ordinated bedroom set, but not in this blog post. Today I'm showing how I was able to use up the left over pieces of fabric from my flannelette pyjama pants.

Retro Sweatpants ~ a Refashion...
When my kids were young, I made all their track pants. They were a quick and easy garment to sew. Unfortunately, I no longer have the patterns I used to sew with. Not a problem, as there are so many patterns to be found online. I've recently come across several versions of Elegance & Elephants' Retro Sweatpants. Everyone had given the pattern a good write up and it's free, so I thought I'd give it a go.

Pyjama Pants - Getting the Right Fit...
I don't have much luck making pants that fit. In fact, in all the years that I've been sewing, I can't recall making one pair of pants that I was happy with, other than track pants. In recent years, I've tried Zumba pants and pyjama pants. In both cases, they were wearable, but the fit was way off.

What's Happening in July...
A quick heads up on some sewing related happenings during July...
It's Refashion Month over at House of Estrela, with 19 guest bloggers, a huge pattern giveaway and a sew-along with the chance to win more patterns. I'll be guest posting at the end of the month. |
Baby Sewing is the current sew-along to help others, over at Hopeful Threads. You can join Kristy in making bibs, burpies and blankies, during the months July - September. I might have a go at a baby blanket. It's been years since I've made one. |

Robot Wine Waiter Cushions...
Last year I asked my youngest son if he would draw several robots for me. He felt his skills weren't up to the task, but I could remember the robots he used to draw as a child and knew he would be able to come up with exactly what I was after. I'm planning a quilt for a young boy and hope to feature nine different robots.
