Freshener Sachets...
I've always used Bi-Carb Soda in my fridge to absorb odours. The Bi-Carb Soda sits in an open jar at the back of the fridge. Bi-Carb Soda is also called Baking Soda.
Over at Random Stuff by Sam, I came across another use for Bi-Carb Soda. Put a tablespoon of Bi-Carb Soda in a square piece of fabric, tie with a ribbon and put in with shoes to keep them fresh and dry. Such a quick and easy idea, with the only cost being the Bi-Carb Soda.
I cut my fabric scraps into 6 inch squares using pinking shears. Both the ribbon and fabric were left overs from past projects. The freshener sachets pictured, took all of ten minutes to make.
