I am absolutely thrilled with my latest creation - a little fabric basket made with selvedges. With a finished size of 5" x 3" x 5" it's a handy size to hold bits and pieces in my sewing room - to help keep it tidy.

Denim jeans - we all wear them, from toddlers to adults. The styles and colours may vary, but they've been a fashion statement since the 60s. Whether they be work clothes or dress jeans, eventually the denim will give. You repair them once, maybe several more times, but sooner or later they'll leave the wardrobe and head to the repurposing pile.

There's no end to the number of items that can be neatly stored in fabric baskets. Measuring just 4½" in diameter x 1¾" high, these pretty baskets are perfect for holding small sewing bits and pieces. That's what I put in mine and it sits right next to my sewing machine.

I think this is the last Christmas present that I haven't shown you. I bought one of the little people a couple of small boxes of Lego, and made him a fabric basket from a fun Lego print.

Several months ago I made two sets of baby wash cloths. The first ones you can see in the photos below. The second set was made for a virtual baby shower and as part of that present, I made a matching fabric basket. It was a great way to present the wash cloths, and became a gift in itself.

Sweet Pouch Swap...

Not so long ago, I took part in my first ever online swap... the Sweet Pouch Swap, over at Sew Delicious. I'm not sure why, but I liked the idea that the pouch I had made, would be travelling around the world to the U.S.. Carla left me a message to say that it had arrived safe and sound. Apparently, you can't get Life Saver Fruit Tingles over there, so Carla was very pleased I had included those.

How to modify a Fabric Basket Tutorial to achieve a totally different look...

The blue and mauve baskets are made using my Fabric Basket Tutorial, yet they look totally different to the original basket. It's super easy to alter the tutorial to come up with a different look.

Denim Fabric Basket...

Here's another little denim fabric basket, made using the denim fabric basket tutorial. The denim is part of the leg of a pair of my old jeans and the lining is from a pre-loved shirt belonging to one of my sons.

Christmas Fabric Baskets...

Once again, I've used the legs from pre-loved jeans, to make some denim fabric baskets. These little baskets could be used for many things, but I'll be filling mine with chocolates.

Here's a small fabric basket I made a little while ago. It's the third fabric basket I have made using this tutorial and it won't be the last.

Don't you just love the pink fabric? Knitting needles, wool, thread, sewing machines, buttons, pins, scissors, needles, embroidery hoops.....

And here's the other side.

This gorgeous crafty fabric travelled half way around the world to reach me and now, some of it has travelled back again in the shape of this little basket.
