Showcasing ~Wool Mat & Cutting Mat Carrier ~ Tutorial

How do you manage when you go to a sewing class or retreat? How do you get your sewing machine and all your gear from the car to the venue? Me, well - my bags precariously sit on top of my sewing machine, which is strapped to a trolley. Today's showcased tutorial solves that problem. It's a bag with a sleeve which fits over the trolley handles.

Carole, from From My Carolina Home, shows how to make a Wool Mat & Cutting Mat Carrier, that slips over a luggage or rolling crate handle. The design is very clever, and could be adapted to suit larger bags. The detailed instructions will step you through the process.

It may be a while till I attend another sewing class or retreat, but when I do, I'll have a bag which is well secured thanks to Carole's tutorial. Are you still able to attend classes in the current climate? I've heard of sewing classes being conducted over Zoom.

  1. I usually just put the handles of my tote bag over the pull up handle of the trolley when I need to carry a lot. But having a sleeve on the back of the tote would be more stable and I should give it a go. This would be a good class to teach to my quilting friends(some day when we can meet again), so we can all go home with the bag.

  2. Thanks so much, Pam!! I miss classes and retreats, and I do hope that by next year we will be back to having fun in person again.

  3. I have had my eye on a wool ironing mat for a while. If I did retreats I would definitely make one of those bags. Just the idea of adding a sleeve to any bag I make to be able to slip it over the suitcase handle is appealing. I'd be all set when we get to travel again.
