Reusable Tote Bags

A quick post today to show you some bags I sewed late last year.

Made with my reusable tote bag tutorial, these bags have been put to good use in the intervening seven months.

They're a good size to put a few things that won't fit in my handbag - large drink bottle, jacket, etc. Being unlined, they don't take up much space when empty and folded up.

All up I made four bags - two in the orange with white flowers and two in the brown. The brown is something old from my stash - no idea the type of fabric, or where I picked it up, and I don't particularly like it. Never-the-less, I have used it a couple of times. Think I'll use it to carry items next time I donate to an Op Shop (Thrift Store) - and donate it too.

On the other hand, I do really like the orange bags. The fabric is one I picked up on sale, and it's organic, too.

A girl can never have too many bags - a bag for every occasion.

Do you have one or two bags that you replace when they wear out, or many bags that last forever?

... Pam

  1. I don't think I've had any of these types of bags that have worn out; however, in my case, none of them have been handmade. Over the years, I've received many of these basic totes from organizations promoting their brand and they've lasted.

With grocery shopping now a bit of a different adventure for Mom, she recently asked for a bag that she can carry that's not a purse but that can accommodate a water bottle and just absolute essentials. Maybe an upscale simple tote like yours is the answer.

  2. My bags tend to disappear. Either I use them to drop things off to others or family take things home in them. I found it difficult to have enough for my grocery shopping. Now that I have more time for sewing, I shall be back making more.

Right now I am still making masks. My kids and husband want them for themselves, friends, and coworkers. Just when I think I am finished, there are more requests for Olsen masks, the inventive Asian styles, and folded ones. If only they all liked one style!
