No Zip Pencil Case ~ Easy to Make Drawstring Bag

Time was on my side this week. Consequently I managed to whip up some drawstring bag pencil cases - no zipper required.

Sewing for Charity Australia put out a call to help the m.a.d.woman foundation - sewing pencil cases for 1000 children in Foster Care in Australia.

Totally made my day to read they were using my Easy Sew Pencil Case ~ No Zipper Needed ~ Tutorial

1000 pencil cases - that's a huge amount!!! I only managed nine pencil cases, but lots of littles make a lot.

There's still time to help the m.a.d.woman foundation reach their goal of 1000 for the Pencil Case Project. All the details for sewing are in the Easy Sew Pencil Case ~ No Zipper Needed ~ Tutorial. Contact m.a.d.woman foundation or Sewing for Charity Australia for the address to send finished pencil cases.

Despite the fact that my seam ripper was used several times whilst making these nine pencil cases, it really is a quick and easy project.

Funnily enough, I make more mistakes when I'm familiar with a tutorial / pattern. If something is new, or difficult, I need to concentrate. I suppose when I've made something easy before, then my mind wanders - hence the mistakes.

What about you - do you make mistakes on easy projects or hard ones?

  1. "Lots of littles make a lot" — I wish more people would take up that adage about life in general. I hear it so often re: carbon reduction in terms of "how can small countries make a difference when the big ones are denying it".

Your nine pencil cases (cheery that they are) will end up making a big difference when combined with others who contribute "just a little".

And yes, I'm like you in regards to mistake making. The simpler something is, the more (wrong) assumptions I may make about it. I recently purchased a new stitch ripper because obviously I'm not shy about using one!

  2. Your pencil case is wonderful, I love the bright and cheery fabrics you used. Yes, my seam ripper is always in heavy use when I make a “used before” pattern! I always think I will remember every step because I have “made it before “! Lol!
