Are you trying to cut down on wasted paper this Christmas? Today's post shows more than 50 ways to use fabric to make reusable bags for wrapping presents. Bags range from very simple; just a couple of rows of stitching, tied with a ribbon and made in literally minutes - to more elaborate and a gift in themselves.
Some of the bags were designed specifically as gift bags, whilst others were sewn for entirely different purposes. Presents come in all shapes and sizes, so I've included bags in many sizes and shapes, so you can find one to suit the presents you are wrapping.
Sew the bags in festive season colours, or match the fabric to either the present or the recipient.
All of the bags have been chosen from either the Drawstring Bags or the Gift Wrapping link parties, here at Threading My Way. If you have a great idea for wrapping gifts, I'd love you to add it to one of the collections.

Over the years, I've experimented with various ways of wrapping presents, and I'm pleased to say I haven't purchased commercial wrapping paper for a couple of years now. That doesn't mean I don't use Christmas wrapping paper...
... that's me! Each festive season I accumulate a store to reuse the next year.
Kid painted wrapping paper always goes down well, too, as does wrapping presents in pillowcases.
Since I began blogging, I've sewn many, many fabric gift bags - not all of them appear on Threading My Way. I plan to make a few this month. The rest of my presents will be wrapped with brown paper and embellished in one way or another.
I am well aware that not everyone likes or appreciates handmade. Have you ever gifted a present with reusable wrapping? If so, how was it received?
When wrapping gifts, think about the age of the recipient. Some of the bags in this post are not suitable for young children due to the length of the cords, small beads, etc.

Oh most definitely I gift with reusable bags for most of my gifting. They make a great presentation because they can be personalized to suit a theme or a favourite colour, they can be reused by the recipient for storage or for another gift, and they use a nice amount of stash - win/win/win :) A few minutes ago I grabbed a cute paper pieced Rudolph pattern from Craftsy to make some Christmas gift bags :D 'tis definitely the season!
