Small Lined Drawstring Gift Bags

Little drawstring fabric bags make a great alternative to wrapping paper. They not only look great, but can be reused instead of thrown away like paper. Win win - two gifts in one and no waste!!!

I whipped up a couple of little bags as thank you gifts for some people who were extremely caring during the hectic time for me before Christmas.

Using my own tutorial, I sewed lined drawstring bags, and popped some soap inside.

While I was at it, I made three extras. They're so quick to make - five bags cut out and sewn in one evening.

Make a drawstring bag to use instead of wrapping paper. Great way to give a present. Threading My Way

What's your go to thank you gift?

  1. Hmmmmmmmmm I quite often make a batch of cookies as a thank you gift! Sometimes there will also be a zipper bag - perhaps with a little something something inside :) It's very practical to have a stash of gift bags in varying sizes and fabric themes - a pretty bag will make even a small/inexpensive/everyday item seem special - and making the bags can bust a serious amount of stash! :)

  2. These are lovely Pam. A bottle of wine is my usual thank you gift so I should whip up some bottle bags to have on hand as the handmade gift bags like yours brings a gift to a whole new level!

    1. Thanks, Lynn. I almost didn't use the floral fabric. As a piece of fabric, it didn't appeal to me, but when sewn up, I was really pleased with the outcome.

  5. Love drawstring bags and as you said handy for so many things around the home as well as gift wrapping. Saves throwing paper away.

  7. These are perfect, and with a lovely soap inside too.
My go to thank you gift is probably chocolates, just bars of regular snack size chocolate bars stuffed into a pretty mug. Actually that's my go to gift for all occasions which I can't think of anything else! That would fit nicely in a drawstring bag wouldn't it? :-)
