Culottes were very fashionable in the 60s. I owned a full length pair, and as with most culottes, they looked like a skirt when viewed from the side. Mine were made from a shiny, pale green fabric and I loved them! Today I am showcasing a free culottes pattern that can be worn below the knee, or lengthened to look like palazzo pants.
Mayra, from So Sew Easy, shows how to make a pair of culottes. As well as a comprehensive tutorial, there is a pattern which can be downloaded for free. Featuring a soft waistband and optional front pockets, the culottes look like an A-line skirt. The pattern is for knit fabric and comes in a wide range of sizes.
Mayra added her culottes to the Women's Pants link party. You might like to check out the following projects at the Women's Pants linky...

I really like these, I think I need to expand my collection of knit fabrics, I tend to just have a smaller remnants I pick up thrifting which are good for children's sewing but not so good for me.
