Showcasing ~ How to Make Placemats & Napkins ~ Pattern

Reusable cloth serviettes or table napkins are definitely the way to go from an environmental perspective. Matching placemats complete the picture.

Sara, from Threads Monthly, shows how to easily make Placemats and Table Napkins. Her very detailed tutorial is broken into helpful sections - materials, how to make and construction problems. There's even a PDF pattern to download if you prefer to cut around a pattern, rather than measuring.

This is a great beginner sewing project. Whip some up for yourself, or make some for presents.

Do you use placemats for everyday use?

  1. It's nice to have matching set isn't it? Sara's instructions are great. We have some table mats that I made from a little spare bit of curtain fabric about 15 years ago which are still going strong, though a tiny bit faded probably! They just bung in the washing machine time after time.
