Link parties are a great way to get your blog out there. They're also a good way to find interesting blogs and a way to meet like minded bloggers. If, like me, sewing is your main focus, you may find the following links helpful. Sewing is the main focus for all of the link parties featured in today's post.
Threading YOUR Way With Threading My Way is hosted by ME. All link parties are ongoing and themed, so you can add projects to any party at any time. So far there are 37 different linkies, each one a resource of sewing ideas, tutorials, pattern reviews and pictures, made by YOU. Almost all are sewing related.
Christine, from ChrisW Designs, hosts a weekly link party, Bag Brag Tuesday. You can link up up anything bag related... bag making tips, a bag pattern you've sewn, even bags you have on offer on Etsy.
You Flew Tuesdays, run by Heather from Feather's Flights, is a monthly link party for sewn projects. Projects, sewn either by hand or machine, can be added at any time during the month. Features are showcased each month with the link party.
Sew Book Inspired, a relatively new link party, is specifically for projects that have been sewn using a sewing book. This ongoing link party is run by Diya, from The Hobby Harbor.
Sew Cute Tuesday is a weekly link party for sewing, crochet, knitting and anything with fabric and thread. Alyce, from Blossom Heart Quilts, hosts this link party, with features shown each week at the link party.
Whilst you can share any projects (sewing and non-sewing) on Linky Tuesday at Freemotion by the River, most people only add sewing projects to this weekly link party. Connie is an avid quilter and so, many projects added are also quilting related. One project is featured each week at the party.
New to Me in 2014, is a monthly link party, hosted by Fiona, from Celtic Thistle Stitches. Link ups open on the 25th of each month and stay open till the end of the month. Projects that involve trying out a new technique or activity can be added. Although non-sewing projects can be added, most items added are sewing or craft related.
Show Off Saturday hosted by Caroline, from Sew Can She, is a weekly link party for sewn projects. The most clicked project from each party is highlighted the next Friday.
Needle and Thread Thursday is a weekly link party for quilting and sewing. Kelly, from My Quilt Infatuation has a passion for quilting, but anything made with needle and thread can be linked up. Features are showcased each week at the link party.
Anything Goes Mondays, is a weekly link party hosted by Marelize, from Stitch by Stitch. You can link up any posts which feature quilting, sewing, knitting or crochet. Features are chosen randomly and are shown each week with the link party.
Richard and Tanya, from Richard and Tanya Quilts, host Link A Finish Fridays. You can link up any sewing finishes to this weekly link party, although they like quilts the best. Each month, someone chosen at random wins a $15 gift card to the Fat Quarter Shop.
Lynn, from Lily's Quilts, hosts 2 monthly link parties: Fresh Sewing Day and Small Blog Meet. Both parties are for sewing projects, but the Small Blog Meet is specifically for bloggers with fewer than 50 followers.
At WIP Wednesday you can link up any post from the past week that features at least one unfinished work-in-progress (WIP). This weekly link party is hosted by Lee, from Freshly Pieced.
Thank Goodness It's Finished Friday is hosted on different blogs. This weekly party is the brainchild of Laura, from Quokka Quilts and M-R, from Quilt Matters. There is a schedule so you can see future hosts and you can sign up to host, too. This is predominantly a quilting link party, but there is sewing as well.
At Fabric Tuesday, you can add any projects that have to do with fabric. This weekly link party is hosted by sisters Heather and Megan, from Quilt Story.
Some of the link parties on this page are new to me. With my newfound addiction to
making quilts, I did a search for link parties geared towards quilting and I found quite a few. I'm looking forward to trying out the new to me link ups.
Adding posts to link parties can be time consuming. When I first began blogging, I added my sewing projects to lots of link parties, every single week. Had I not spent that time, I don't know whether anyone would ever have found and read my blog, other than Mr TMW, of course.
Almost two and a half years down the track, I still add my projects to lots of link parties, but I don't add every post and I don't link up every week. There's just not enough time. I suppose I tend to be more selective now, but I still add projects to some non-sewing link parties, as well as the sewing related ones. My
parties page will show you the parties I have at some time linked up to.
Is it worth the effort adding projects to link parties? It all depends what you are after... traffic, comments, being noticed, followers, finding new blogs.
There's no one answer. Everyone will have different opinions.
Which are the best parties (other than Threading My Way, of course) and why? Again, there's no one answer. The parties I link to are not necessarily large, although some are. Sometimes I just like the community associated with a particular party.
If you know of any other sewing related linkies, I'd love you to leave me a link in the comments.
... Pam
That's a great list! I learned about some news blogs (and linky parties) that I didn't know about. You are so right about the benefits of linking -- they're not always quantifiable, but even the intangible benefits are worth it! : )
ReplyDeleteGreat Pam, I've found a couple of new ones that I'll certainly look at linking up to in future. You did a lot of homework on this post - thank you.
