Upcycled Drawstring Travel Storage Bags

A couple of weeks ago I showed you my new travel storage bags. I am on a roll. I've made a few more - not as pretty as the last lot, but just as functional.

Drawstring travel bags made from an old sheet ~ Threading My Way

Even if my travelling is limited at the moment, I still need something to organise my bags and separate laundry from clean clothes during an overnight stay.

Three more little bags whipped up, this time from an old 100% cotton sheet given to us way back in the seventies. I cut random sized rectangles, but otherwise sewed them up as per my Double Drawstring Bag Tutorial.

It was all bright colours back then. These were my least favourite at the time, and so have lasted longer than the others. The pattern has grown on me over the years, but their time as sheets is over.

Two flat double bed sheets -->> three drawstring bags - there's a lot of material left to play with. What do you think I should do with the rest of the sheet fabric?

  1. Good job! I've made plenty of things out of old style bed sheets (tote bags and purses mainly) but you'd really have to like this particular print to do that, so I cannot advise on that front.

Don't you appreciate, however, how sturdy and well made those fabrics were back then? When I put my hands on the sheets that Mom gave me for my first sewing projects, I couldn't believe the quality, despite the fact that some of them had very definitely been laundered over and over back in the day when they were used as sheets.

  3. For a lot of people, this will be determined by their commitments at home. If you can only take a limited period off work, for example, then you may only be able to go on holiday for a week or two. However, if the world is your oyster, you could go away for several months. It all depends on what you want from your vacation and how much you can afford.Phi Phi island tours
