Summer Garden Down Under ~ I'm Back

It's been a while since I've shown you any pictures of our garden - time to rectify that.

Unlike last Summer - with devastating bushfires and a long drought - this year, by comparison, has been pretty mild. Consequently, the garden is flourishing.

It's started to warm up this week - 41ºC (105ºF) today - but with only one more month of Summer the unexpected rain will hold us in good stead.

Blogging and sewing have been pretty much put on hold, while I've spent almost all my spare time out in my happy place.

I haven't been in the right head space to do much else. Covid began just as the bushfires - that went on and on for several months - died down. Added to this were some personal issues that have been hard to deal with.

And so, I retreated to the garden.

Mr TMW is terracing a new section of the garden. He doesn't enjoy the day to day maintenance of a garden, but he gets satisfaction from one off landscaping projects. We make a good team!!!

I'm not sure when I'll be back, but hopefully there'll be more blogging and sewing happening in 2021.

I do hope you are keeping safe and well during these troubled times. Take care!!!

... Pam

  3. Always love your garden pics. They are especially welcome as I sit here in New York in the midst of a snow storm. Only about four or five inches, though. The last one left 29 inches.

Hope all is well with the pandemic in your part of the world. The vaccine roll out here is giving me huge amounts of hope for the new year.

    1. Thank you!! It's hard for me to imagine that much snow, as it never snows at all here. To me, pictures would seem pretty, whereas I'm sure the reality is somewhat different.

At the moment, we're in a relatively good position re the pandemic. Stay safe.

  4. We are going into the deep freeze next week; the temp is expected to be -28 as a high this coming Sunday. Think about what your garden would look like under those circumstances!

Seriously though, what do your weather experts say about moisture for this year? Are the threat of fires going to be an ongoing thing (like on the other side of the country right now)?

  5. And what an ideal place to retreat too Pam! Our garden is more like a lake today and as the rain is forecast for another few days that is not going to change any time soon!

  6. How lovely to see a Summer garden! February is the month when I find it hardest to imagine Summer as our garden is mainly mud :)

  7. I can see why your garden is your happy place. It certainly is rewarding you for your time. I'm in Florida again this winter. Did some hand stitching on hexies till I ran out of fabric because I still don't go shopping. While I'm always ready after Christmas to take a break from sewing, the 10 week break away from my sewing room admiring quilts & ideas online always has me eager to get back to my sewing nest. You'll get back to it when you're good and ready. My longest break was 12 years.

    1. 12 years is a long time away from sewing, Joy. I do hope I'm back regularly sewing in a much shorter time frame. Enjoy your sewing!

  9. Everything looks stunning, I've really enjoyed seeing your photos on IG too. It's so easy for other things to derail our sewing and craft plans, I just have too many half done projects and with some recent family stuff going on too I'm just looking forward to some quiet pressure free sewing time soon. Half done projects are fine until they mount up too much and feel like a burden aren't they? I will try to tackle them one at a time.
