Handmade Christmas ornaments personalise a tree and make it yours. Why not try thread couching to create unique decorations? Let the kids embellish the ornament to add the finishing touches.
A few years ago I tried a similar technique to make a lace motif using the free motion foot. My end result, to quote a friend, resembled a doily that looked like it had been chewed by a dog. As well as having a defined outline, Dione's ornaments use the regular presser foot, making it much more do-able. It looks like fun and something I could successfully do!

I used to make ornaments for each of my children, and I loved all the little sticky ornaments they brought home so proudly from school!ReplyDelete
How lovely to make ornaments for each of the children. Shiela. They would have treasured seeing them on the tree each year. Our tree was filled with a mish mash of ornaments the kids made -best thing.Delete
These are really neat Pam, I have used a similar technique to make machine wrapped cord for art quilts so I could easily see myself having a go at some of these too :)ReplyDelete
