Showcasing ~ String Style Art Christmas Ornaments ~ Tutorial

Handmade Christmas ornaments personalise a tree and make it yours. Why not try thread couching to create unique decorations? Let the kids embellish the ornament to add the finishing touches.

Learn how to make couched thread Christmas ornaments - star, tree, bauble. Tutorial by Clever Chameleon

Dione, from Clever Chameleon, shows how to make Couched Thread Christmas Ornaments. There are four templates to download - star, tree, bell and bauble. The very detailed instructions will step you through the process so you can make your own unique Chrismtas ornaments.

A few years ago I tried a similar technique to make a lace motif using the free motion foot. My end result, to quote a friend, resembled a doily that looked like it had been chewed by a dog. As well as having a defined outline, Dione's ornaments use the regular presser foot, making it much more do-able. It looks like fun and something I could successfully do!

    1. How lovely to make ornaments for each of the children. Shiela. They would have treasured seeing them on the tree each year. Our tree was filled with a mish mash of ornaments the kids made -best thing.

  3. These are really neat Pam, I have used a similar technique to make machine wrapped cord for art quilts so I could easily see myself having a go at some of these too :)
