Pillowcases & Blanket ~ Skirting the Issue

Once again the girls from Simple Simon and Company are running Skirting the Issue, a month long sew along in support of children who could do with a little something to brighten their lives. What began as sewing skirts for girls in foster care, has now grown to include quilts, blankets, pillowcases and dresses.

First up, one roughly sized single bed blanket - simple binding added to loose weave fabric. The construction is the same as my easy sew blankets.

... and three pillowcases. These are SO quick to make!!!

You might like to check out 35 Pillowcase Tutorials for different methods of constructing, as well as dimensions for pillowcases in various locations in the world.

I'll be sending my blanket and pillowcases to the Waltja Tjutangku Palyapayi Aboriginal Corporation, an Aboriginal controlled community-based organisation, which works with families in remote Central Australian Aboriginal communities.

Before I send them off, I have some skirts to whip up.

You can find all the details for Skirting the Issue 2018 over at Simple Simon and Company. The project runs till 15th August.

What is your favourite thing to sew for charity?

... Pam
