Adding a recessed zipper to the top of a bag is not as hard as you may think. And it keeps the contents of your bag safe and sound inside.
Vicky, from Vicky Myers Creations, shows how to make a roomy tote bag that closes with a recessed zipper. In addition to the outside pocket, there are two more inside - a slip pocket and one that closes with a zip. Each step of the process is accompanied by clear photos, so you can make your own tote bag.

I've always wanted to add one of those zippers to my bags... I'll be saving the link for this tutorial! Thanks for sharing! xx
ReplyDeleteThat is the best explanation for a recessed zipper, that I've seen. I've never done one because I couldn't wrap my brain around it, but in her tutorial, it looks doable! I've just been studying the instructions and I think I'd like to make this bag. I'm just trying to figure out why the boxed bottom was done differently for the outer than the lining - I'm sure there's a reason, but I'm stumped :D
ReplyDeleteI have used a recessed zipper on a bag before but this tutorial is much neater than the method I used, I will definitely be using this in future!
