Today I'm going to show you a wine bottle gift bag made from a pair of pre-loved jeans - so much better than a brown paper bag, and it's re-usable, too.
This is the second wine bottle gift bag I've made from a pair of jeans. The construction of both is basically the same...
- cut off the bottom of one leg of a pair of jeans
- use the hem on the jeans as the top of the wine bag
- sew a seam across the bottom
- shape the bottom of the bag by boxing the corners
- tie with a ribbon
As I was rummaging through my stash for a pair of pre-loved jeans, I was lucky enough to find a pair of capris with one button up tab. With no sewing whatsoever, it creates an eye catching top to the wine bottle bag.
For details on boxing the corners and hints on sewing with denim, see my first wine bottle gift bag.
The ribbon is attached at the back by sewing a row of stitching through both the ribbon and the jeans.
Sewing projects don't get any easier than this! What's the fastest project you've ever sewn?
I'll be adding my latest wine bottle gift bag to the Denim Refashioning link party, here at Threading My Way.
