Seasons Greetings...

It's Christmas Eve in Australia and I'm done with sewing for a few days. No, I didn't finish all the gifts I had planned to sew. Last night, at 1.00am, I decided that enough is enough. Hand sewing a zip upside down was the final straw. It's going to be a super cute little pouch when I rip out the stitching and re-attach the zip, but today's not the day.

It was meant to be a practice run for a new pattern I'd bought. Why did I think that the day before Christmas Eve was a good time to be learning how to make a zippered pouch using traditional Japanese methods??? And then thinking I'd use those new skills to make a couple of Christmas presents!!! The handmade gifts were extras, so it's not a problem.

Today I'm going to leisurely wrap presents, then head out to the garden for some much needed exercise, if it doesn't rain that is.

This time of year means different things to different people. For me, it's all about family - a day with the most important people in my life.

If it's hot, there'll no doubt be water of some sort. Last year it was water pistols and the new slippy slide and not just for the little kids - lots of fun. The forecast is for a wet Christmas, so maybe it'll be games inside.

What we do during the day is not important - being together is.

However you spend this time of year, I hope there's lots of fun and laughter celebrating with the people who mean the most to you.

Seasons Greetings - Merry Christmas - Happy Hannukah

See you in 2015...

  1. We get together with hubby's family on Christmas Day ... there's lots of food involved - always a good thing ;) My family is further away so I only chat to them by phone and email :D I found out tonight that DS1 will be spending Christmas Eve here so he'll be around Christmas morning - I wasn't sure he would still be doing that, now that he has his own house, so I was very pleased when he told me! Our Christmas morning Caramel French Toast tradition continues, YAY!

I know your pain with the upside down zipper because of a new pattern - that's the story of my life, LOL. I call my first attempt at a new project a trial run - then it's a BONUS if it works out well enough to gift ;)

Have a wonderful Christmas with your family, Pam!

  3. We celebrated Christmas a couple of days early becasue my daughter had to leave on Christmas Eve so it means I'll be back to my sewing on Christmas Day. I don't have any little ones so it's the perfect way for me to spend Christmas.
Enjoy your time with your family. Merry Christmas.

  4. I was also at the sewing machine this Xmas eve morning. Didn't get everything finished either, but the things I most wanted are wrapped and under the tree for tomorrow. Wishing you and your family a fun, relaxing week!

  8. I hope you had a great Christmas Pam! Our house is empty and quiet again. None of the kids live close so when they come, they move in for several days and chaos ensures. It is wonderful, but the return to quiet and routine is ok too.

  9. I know exactly how you felt when you did this post, Pam! I was sewing right up until the very last moment and had to rip out much more seams than I care to admit. All the time I was saying to myself that I would not be doing this on Christmas Eve next year. I hope I will stick to that and have everything wrapped up all neat and tidy long before Christmas arrives. We shall see. Wishing you a happy and relaxed new year celebration and the absolute best in the year to come!
