Naughts and Crosses Travel Game ~ Tic Tac Toe

Naughts and crosses is a simple paper and pencil game, that has been played by generations of kids. Here in Australia we call it naughts and crosses, but in many parts of the world it is referred to as tic tac toe. I was inspired by Sally, from Wonky Patchwork, to make a travel version of the game in a drawstring bag.

You simply have to check out Sally's Tic Tac Toe game. The counters are pieces of sea glass - a brilliant idea.

All you need to make a travel naughts and crosses game, is a simple drawstring bag with grid lines, and some counters.

I've made the bag with my own Drawstring Gift Bag tutorial. However, I didn't box the corners, enabling the bag to lie flatter for the counters to sit on.

Before stitching up the bag, I sewed the grid lines onto the front of each bag - satin ribbon for one, and bias tape for the other.

The drawstrings are just some offcuts I had in my stash. The flatter the drawstring the better. The grey drawstring works slightly better as the buttons don't slide off as easily.

Sadly I don't have any pretty sea glass, but I do have a tonne of buttons.

Two little Christmas gifts made!!! And such an easy sew!!! Actually, I should have three bags made, but I totally mucked up the first one. Ha, ha... sometimes the easiest sewing is where I make mistakes, maybe because I'm not concentrating.
