30+ DIY Halloween Costumes ~ Tutorials, Templates, Patterns

In many parts of the world, Halloween is a time honoured celebration. Not so in Australia where I live. It's only in recent years that Halloween has started to be celebrated. It hasn't been adopted by everyone, but it is becoming more popular, especially with young families.

Do you celebrate Halloween? Tell me what I'm missing out on. As we live out of town, we have never seen anyone dressing up, or trick or treating. It does sound like fun. Although I can't quite get my head around the amounts of sweets that seem to be consumed.

  1. I truly have never understood the appeal of Halloween. The fact that it has become this decorative obsession in recent years is truly bizarre to me. (I'm talking about people who spend big money decorating their yards as though it were Christmas.)

That said, I "participate" by handing out goodies. Depending on what neighbourhood you live in around here, in any given year, you can get hundreds of kids coming to your door or just ten. The young ones are the best when they're dressed up like in the photos you've linked; teenagers not so much.

  2. So many wonderful ideas! I love that you've gotten together costumes for all ages and both classic Halloween and more unique costumes. Thank you so much for including two of my cape projects! Pinning this roundup! :) Lisa
