Showcasing ~ Felt Pocket Bunny ~ Free Pattern

Today's showcased pattern is a super cute softie that's the perfect size for toddlers to carry around, and to slip into their pockets.

Learn how to make a felt Easter Bunny. Free pattern by Swoodson Says.

Stephanie, from Swoodson Says, shows how to make her Felt Pocket Bunny, using small pieces of felt. It's all easy hand sewing, so a relaxing activity to do in front of the TV. The little bunnies end up at only 1½" tall, so, as Stephanie says...
Please exercise caution if you’re playing with these around kids who still put things in their mouths. They are geared at preschoolers and up. Not suitable for children under 3 years of age.

These little bunnies would be a great alternative to chocolate eggs at Easter time.

I think this would be a wonderful project for a slightly older child to sew themselves. Make up a kit with all the supplies included and the felt already cut out. Pop the lot in a drawstring bag (you may have to alter the dimensions), and you have a ready made gift - so much nicer than many store bought kits.

Early last year I showcased Stephanie's Felt Pocket Kitty Cat. If you like the free bunny and cat, you can purchase the Mini Critters Pattern, with a whole crew of animal friends.

Stephanie added her felt bunny to the Softies, Dolls & Toys link party. You might like to check out the following tutorials at the Softies, Dolls & Toys linky...

    1. I’m curious how well the pocket holds up if a child actually carries it around—does the felt stretch or sag over time, or is there a lining that keeps its shape for daily use?

  3. Well, that reminded me of when I was looking for little projects to unwind after work and ended up trying out some pocket-sized games online instead. While browsing, I came across and decided to give one of their quick games a shot. At first, I spinmacho casinohad a streak of bad rounds, but then I took a small risk that finally paid off with a bigger win, which gave me the same kind of cheerful feeling as finishing a craft project. It turned into a nice way to relax, and I’d recommend it if you’re looking for something light and entertaining to break up the day.

  5. Making these tiny felt bunnies with simple hand sewing really reminds me of the joy that comes from small crafts, especially when using up leftover materials. I remember a time during a Connections Game in a crafting club when we had to create mini animals from fabric scraps—many of us struggled with the details, but the end result was rewarding. Love this inspiration!

  11. I really love how the pocket adds a functional element to the bunny. I’m curious – do you think the pocket would hold a small chocolate egg without distorting the shape? That could make it perfect for an Easter basket.

  21. This pocket bunny is absolutely adorable! I've been getting into felt crafts lately and your step-by-step photos make this look so achievable even for beginners. The free pattern is such a generous gift — I've downloaded it and already picked out my wool felt colours. The little stitched details on the ears are what really make it special.

On a slightly different note, my kids have been obsessed with this browser-based football game called Head Football while I work on craft projects in the evenings. It's cartoonish, no violence, runs on any device without downloads, and the matches are short enough that I don't have to pry them away when it's time for bed. I've actually started using it as a reward for helping me sort felt scraps — they get a match while I thread needles and it keeps them occupied without making a mess. The oversized heads and ridiculous power-ups are genuinely hilarious too.

Any tips on sourcing good quality wool felt that doesn't pill? The craft store stuff I've tried frays too easily for detailed work like this.

Pinning this for our Easter craft session — thanks for sharing!
