Showcasing ~ How to Neatly Finish Topstitching ~ Tutorial

Topstitching can add a professional finish to a sewn project. When the item has two right sides, however, it becomes harder to create a neat finish. Today's showcased tutorial overcomes this problem.

Damjana, from Apple Green Cottage, shows how to neatly finish off topstitching on a project that has two right sides. Both sides end up with a clean finish, and no visible tail threads. This is a useful technique for items such as bookmarks, zipper ends and gift bags. The comprehensive tutorial details two different methods, depending on whether the project requires the same, or different coloured threads.

Damjana added her topstitching tutorial to the Sewing Tips & Techniques link party. You might like to check out the following tutorials at the Sewing Tips & Techniques linky...

Do you often use different coloured threads when topstitching?

  1. Thanks for sharing the tip, Pam. Since you asked, so I gave a thought and came to the conclusion that I mostly do topstitching when it adds to the design as well, so I use different coloured threads.
