Baby Boy Shorts

Just before Christmas, I whipped up a couple of pairs of baby boy shorts. Not as exciting as toys, but let's face it, to a one year old, the wrapping paper is what usually gains their attention. I'd love to be able to say that I made re-usable wrapping for all my presents, but sadly not last year.

Shorts for a one year old boy - Mud Puddle Splashers, made using Four Corners fabric, by Simple Simon and Co. ~ Threading My Way

Once again, I used the Mud Puddle Splashers by Fishsticks Designs. I've lost track of how many Mud Puddle Splashers I've made. Tells you how much I like the pattern...

Shorts never seem to sit well unless they're being worn. I'd love to be able to show pics of the shorts being modelled, but when the little recipient lives on the other side of the country, it's a tad hard. I haven't even met this little guy yet. Hopefully it will happen in the not too distant future.

Last year, I was lucky enough to score a 5 yard bundle of Four Corners fabric, by the talented ladies at Simple Simon and Co. They were having an Instagram sale, and I just couldn't resist. Even including the cost of postage all the way from the U.S. and taking into consideration the exchange rate at the time, I still saved heaps on what it would cost me to purchase here. I'm not even sure it's for sale in Australia yet?

I love the black and white arrow fabric. It's the first of the five Four Corners fabrics I've cut into. The fabric on the blue shorts is one that's been sitting in my stash for ages. I decided I'd make them both with a geometric theme.

My other present to this little boy was totally practical, too - baby wash cloths. Do you go for practical or fun when giving presents?

  1. Cute Pam! I loved it when my son was a toddler and I could make him quick and easy shorts like that. I use to make a lot in super hero fabrics too!

  2. I like to do fun things, but they HAVE to be practical, too - sturdy, washable, no parts that will fall off :D Cute shorts!

  3. I used to be very practical, and I still am in some ways, but I am trying to splurge a little more and make things that are fun. Mostly, I want gifts to be special and something that will be treasured and remembered. Great job on the shorts! I really like the arrow print!

  5. What a great bundle of fabric. And I think practical is good for that age, they generally have loads of toys already and, as you say, the wrapping paper is the best bit for them! Either practical or books - can never have too many books!
