Baby Wash Cloths in a Fabric Basket

Several months ago I made two sets of baby wash cloths. The first ones you can see in the photos below. The second set was made for a virtual baby shower and as part of that present, I made a matching fabric basket. It was a great way to present the wash cloths, and became a gift in itself.

The other day I finally whipped up a little quilted fabric basket for the first set of wash cloths. I've made a few of these now. They are quick and easy to make, they only require a small amount of fabric, and they're a great way to store all manner of bits and pieces.

The inside of the basket is lined with a pale yellow that matches well with the wash cloths. The main fabric is a fun Lego print - Small Sky Bricks. I purchased it ages ago, and always intended to use it to make a fabric basket. It just took me a while to get around to it. I can't remember how much I bought, but I have a second basket cut out, and there's plenty left over.

The Sky Bricks fabric comes in both a small and a big size print. This is the small one. I have some of the Big Sky Bricks, but I'm saving that for another project. Both fabrics can be purchased from Susie, at Flowerpress.

I can't see any of the Small Sky Bricks in the store at the moment, but if you're after some, chat to Susie. She's extremely friendly and helpful. Oh, she also sells awesome tea towels, too. I bought some as Christmas presents last year and I've done the same again this year. I thought I deserved it, so I bought one for me, too. (No, I'm not being sponsored.)

Even though I'm well under way with my Christmas organisation, I didn't stop to take any photos - slows down the sewing somewhat. Next time I'll take the time, and I'll write up a tutorial.

Another Christmas present ticked off the list. I'll be adding my fabric basket to Ho, Ho, Ho and On We Sew, on the 18th of this month. I'll also be joining in with Bag It, at Elm Street Quilts. There's some great sponsor prizes for both link ups.

And, of course, I'll also be linking up to the Fabric Basket collection here at Threading My Way.

Yesterday Mr TMW and I finished the last of the our Christmas present shopping. I've done most of it online, so there wasn't much to do. Truth be told, I do still have one present to buy - one for Mr TMW. I know what I'll be buying, though, and sometimes that's the hardest part.

Make some wash cloths and pop them into a fabric basket for a cute, but easy to make baby gift ~ Threading My Way

A few more small items to sew, and I'll be home and hosed long before Christmas. I don't think I've ever been this organised. Makes me think I must be forgetting something.

How are you going with your holiday season preparations?

... Pam

  1. Those are such sweet baskets and washcloths - I want to hold them and wipe a little baby's face with the cloth, lol!

Making gift choices is awfully hard a lot of the time - that's why I'm still doing Christmas sewing this close to the big day! 1 3/4 puppets finished today - I'm going to finish baking some Christmas cookies then head back down to the basement to finish #3 and cut out #4. That will be enough for that particular part of the gift - I'll be very glad to cross it off of my challenge list ;)
