What's Happening in June...

A quick heads up on some sewing related happenings in June...

You and Me is a series to celebrate the art of sewing and the art of building relationships with our children throughout different ages and stages of their lives. There is one more week of the series left.

Christine, from ChrisW Designs, is holding a photographic competition. Enter a stunning photo of someone with a bag made from one of Christine's patterns and be in the running to win patterns and hardware.

Two Little Aussie Birdies is hosting the Modern Medallion quilt along. There is a link party each week, so you can show progress with your version. There will be some great prizes along the way.

Le ChallengeEvery 15th of every month, there is a new theme for all crafters to interpret in their choice of crafty weapons. The current theme at Le Challenge is CHARITY. One winner will be chosen at random.

Lil Pip DesignsEach month, Jane, from Lil Pip Designs, is hosting the Lil Pip Challenge, a sewing / crafty challenge. This month the challenge is sewing the Commuter Cowl Pattern by Very Shannon

Quilt Jane is hosting the Nested Churn Dash Quilt-a-long. Participants will make a 24" x 24" block and be in the running to win some beautiful Aurifil thread packs and other great prizes. Finishes end of July.

June's project over at The Monthly Stitch, is Indie Pattern Month. There are going to be four sewing contests during Indie Pattern Month – one each week. Each one has a theme, sponsors, and some amazing prizes.

Flip this Pattern, run by the sisters at Frances Suzanne, will now be a seasonal event. You can read about changes to the format here and more details here.

Participants in the Happy Handmade sew-along will be sewing the Pull-over Parka, from the Japanese pattern book, Happy Homemade Vol. 2, also translated to English (Happy Homemade: Sew Chic Kids). Projects uploaded by June 30 to be entered in the giveaway.

Cora's Quilt's is having a Spring Sample Quilt Along. The sew-along started in April, but doesn't end till July. There will be two gift certificate prizes. (U.S. and Canadian residents only)

Every three weeks from late May through August, Road Trip Club members will receive an exclusive brand new PDF sewing pattern. There are 5 travel inspired patterns that include bags, accessories and women’s clothing. The Road Tripper Duffle bag has already been released.

Made for Kids, is all about encouraging kids to wear and enjoy their handmade items. Participate as much or as little as you and your kids like. This isn’t a contest, just a fun project for you to do together.

What will you be sewing during the month of June?

  1. My plans for June include finishing the D9P quilt I'm working on ... to finish a turtle UFO quilt I started years ago ... and to try some fun new pins and patterns I've collected but haven't gotten to :D

  4. I'm not sure what I'll tackle this month. Probably swim suits. Kayleen is headed to Daytona Beach for a church youth retreat and needs either a tankini or one piece swim suit for that. Also, the little girls need new ones too! Looks like there are a lot of fun sewing related challenges this month.:)
