Adding to my Stash...

I may have a room full of fabrics and sewing notions, but there's not nearly enough to cater for every sewing activity. Sometimes a project calls for large quantities of co-ordinating fabric that I just don't have.

Fabric Basket ~ Umbrella Prints Trimmings

QAYG Fabric Basket ~ Threading My Way
I've just finished my latest fabric basket, this time made with trimmings from Umbrella Prints. Last year I had good intentions of entering the annual Umbrella Prints Trimmings Competition, but my crazy patchwork zippered pouch didn't make the cut off date. This year I've finished a QAYG fabric basket with a few days to spare.

Dry Erase Colouring Placemat ~ Tutorial by Deby, from So Sew Easy

Deby has just released a new pattern... Sew Simple Leggings for real women. The free tutorial to draft your own is still available, but I've just bought the pattern tonight. At only $2.95, I'd rather have Deby do all the hard work! Now I just need to find the time to make them.

English Paper Piecing ~ WIP...

Back in January, I showed you the English Paper Pieced hexagons I was working on. The hexies are still a work in progress, but in the meantime I've begun another English Paper Piecing project. In March I was lucky enough to attend the three day Autumn Quilting Triple Treat at Blackheath. Day 1 was English Paper Piecing, with Rachael Porter, from Stitches and Sew On.

Peter Rabbit Doll Quilt ~ FMQ...

Log Cabin style Doll Quilt made entirely with scraps of fabric ~ Threading My Way

Last week I showed you my Free Motion Quilting (FMQ) on a doll quilt, which was made to match the fairy panel quilt. I've been practising FMQ on a second doll quilt, this time to match the Peter Rabbit quilt.

Building Strong Relationships with Kids...

I'm guessing the vast majority of you are parents, or hope one day to be one. It's a very special role!!! Whatever their age, as parents, we all want to do the very best for our children, to be close to them and to have strong, enduring relationships.

Doll Quilt ~ Free Motion Quilting...

Practise your FMQ by making a Doll Quilt ~ Threading My Way

I'm well and truly hooked by the quilting bug!!! I'm reading, Pinning and trying to find out as much as I can about this age old craft. Garment sewing is going to have to take a bit of a back step while I start out on my quilting journey. Or, maybe I'll find more hours in each day to fit in all the things that are racing around in my head.

Rolled Gold Thimble...

While reading about thimbles, in preparation for hand stitching my Fairy panel quilt, I remembered the rolled gold thimble my Mum had shown me. It originally belonged to my grandmother, and was given to Mum when her mother passed away.

Fairy Panel Quilt...

I'm on a roll. I've just finished my 4th quilt!!! I've actually had the fabric for AGES, but couldn't motivate myself to make it into a quilt. There's no piecing involved, as it's a panel and I think that's actually why I had trouble getting started. Is it real quilting if half the work is not there???

Mini Log Cabins...

Way back in January, I joined in the It's a New Year Sewalong over at Sew Can She. To participate in the sewalong, you only had to make one mini log cabin and sew it into something. You could, of course, make more.
