Beach Huts Cushion TUTORIAL... how to make a set of cushions with button closures ~ Threading My Way

Today I'll show you how to make a set of cushions, with button closures. In Australia we call them cushions and I believe it's the same in the UK. In other parts of the world, you might refer to them as pillows.

The Paper Bag Princess...

In case you missed it, here's the post I wrote for the Sew Many Books series, over at Nap-Time Creations... such a fun series!

When Emily asked if I wanted to be a part of Sew Many Books, children's clothes inspired by children's books, I didn't hesitate. Combining two of the things I am passionate about; children's literature and sewing for children, immediately had my head swimming with ideas.

There are so many good books for children, which made it hard to choose just one. I eventually decided on making an outfit inspired by Princess Elizabeth, the main character in The Paper Bag Princess, written by Robert N Munsch and illustrated by Michael Martchenko.

All Day Skirt and Tee...

Do you recognise the skirt? It's one I've made in denim before... the All Day Skirt by Lily Bird Studio. The first time I used the pattern, I used a printed, non-stretch denim with a small polka dot for the ruffle. This time, the denim is stretch and teamed with a Michael Miller polka dot. I love the combination of the denim with a full ruffle.

This is my second time making the Peasant Blouse by Tie Dye Diva. I was thrilled with the first one, both how it turned out and the attention to detail in the pattern.

30 Minute Shorts...

All the garments in this post are made with the 30 Minute Shorts pattern, from Create HOPE Designs. The fact that I've used the pattern so many times, speaks for itself. This is a good, basic PDF pattern to have in your stash. It's perfect for those new to sewing and makes a great starting point for experienced seamstresses.

The first time I used the 30 Minute Shorts pattern, was to make the denim shorts above. I added the contrasting waistband, both for the effect and to add a little, extra length.... love Rush Hour, by Alexandra Henry!

Faith, Hope and Love Skirts...

The September sew along over at Hopeful Threads, is in support of Create HOPE Designs, an organisation raising funds to help orphans and their communities. I've sewn several garments using Create HOPE Designs PDF patterns and have always been extremely pleased with the results, so when Kristy asked if I would do a pattern review for this month's sew along, I was more than happy.

Spring in my Garden...

If you've been reading Threading My Way for a while, you'll know that I divide most of my spare time between sewing and gardening. Lately, gardening has been winning in the time stakes. It's now the second day of Spring, so that will probably continue until the weather warms up, which won't be long.

Today I thought I'd show you some pics of my Spring garden, taken today...
