Pride and Prejudice Dress...

I was lucky enough to pattern test the Pride and Prejudice Dress, for Bella, from Nisabell Necessary. When I first saw Bella's Pride and Prejudice Dresses, I just loved the puffy sleeves, the empire waist and the gathered bodice.

The Peggy Skirt...

It's almost two years since I came across the Peggy Skirt Tutorial. Ros, from Sew Delicious, had only been blogging for one month at that stage; the same as me. I had never even heard of Mad Men, the TV series that inspired the skirt, but I added the Peggy Skirt to my To Do list.

Triple Zip Pouch Swap...

Earlier this year, I saw my first Triple Zip Pouch, over at Celtic Thistle Stitches and not long afterwards another at Passion et Couture. I loved them both: the paisley fabric in Fiona's and the embroidery in Marisa's. The design with the three zips really appealed to me. I missed the sew-along, but have had it on my To Do list ever since, so when Erin posted about a Triple Zip Pouch Swap she was joining, I just had to sign up, too.

However, denim is not the easiest of fabrics to sew, mainly because it is so thick. Following are my tips for sewing successfully with denim.

What's Happening in August...

Just a quick heads up on some sewing related happenings in August...

When Emily invited me to take part in, Sew Many Books, children's clothes inspired by children's books, I didn't hesitate. Combining two of the things I am passionate about; children's literature and sewing for children, immediately had my head swimming with ideas. Starts Monday...

Kristy, from Hopeful Threads, is teaming up with Sew For Kids to help the kids on the Pine Ridge Reservation with back to school supplies. The main focus for the Back to School Sew-Along is pencil cases.
