The Katie J. Jumper...

As soon as I saw Kristy's version of the Katie J. Jumper over at Hopeful Threads,  I just had to have it and purchased the PDF pattern straight away. It's taken me four months, but here's my version of the Katie J. Jumper, by Fishstick Designs.

I love the fact that the pattern has several options to choose from. I've made the one piece back with gathered straps. You can see the other options over on the Fishstick Designs blog.

It was a pleasure to sew with this pattern; from piecing it together to following the detailed instructions. I'm a bit old school when it comes to sewing, so I know the tried and true construction methods used in the pattern, will make for a well made garment that will last.

I'll definitely by making more Katie J. Jumpers. You can purchase the pattern here.

The matching bib is made with another Fishstick Designs pattern, this one a free download that includes bibs in several different sizes, ranging from infants to adults. I've modified the pattern, by using velcro instead of snaps. I forgot to take a picture, but I've backed the bib with a pale pink, flannelette, polka dot, which is so, so soft. I know flannelette is usually soft, but this one is especially so. For extra absorbency, I've added a hardly worn, pre-loved t-shirt as an in between layer.

The last part of the outfit is the ruffled nappy cover that I made three months ago, when the little baby girl was born. They're all made in a size one, so they're still way too big. Hopefully they'll be just the right size when Summer arrives.

The dress is designed to reach just to the knee, so hopefully those cute, little ruffles will be seen as the little one crawls and perhaps begins to walk.

I am absolutely thrilled with how the outfit looks!!! Today I was lucky enough to have cuddles with the ever so cute little girl and the outfit certainly seemed to go down well with her Mum.

I'll be adding these garments to the Everything Baby and the Girls' Dresses link parties here at Threading My Way.

  8. Awwwwwwwwwwwww what a sweet set - I hope they send you a picture of Little Missy wearing her outfit! I put a layer of flannel in my bibs for extra absorbency (usually scraps, or old flannel sheets) - adding that extra layer gives them a nice feel - a bit thicker than just 2 layers of fabric, and soft!

  9. oh that is just adorable, love that nappy cover and the dress is gorgeous. I can't call it a jumper as over here a jumper is a woolly knitted item that you wear in winter!
